Fairground Projects
The Lucas County Fair Association is always looking to make improvements to our facilities in order to meet the needs of our community. Some of our current projects are shown below.

Donations to assist in improving the grounds are always appreciated and are tax deductable
Goat Barn Upgrade
We plan to upgrade an underused cattle barn into a facility designed to house goats. This project has three parts:
-
Pour concrete in the west side of the barn to improve surface and level the floor
-
Bring water lines and hydrants up to the north side of the barn
-
Purchase and install 25 high quality show pens with easy-to-open gates

Thanks to a grant from the Lucas County Endowment Fund, and a few private donations, we will be able to begin this project. We still need about $11,000 to complete the project with high quality pens. We invite you to sponsor a goat pen for $600. Please contact Jackie (641) 203-6685 for more information about this project.

Sound System
The fairgrounds has expanded in big ways over the last several years. As each addition has been made the current sound system was adjusted the same way “an addition was made.” Now, we have multiple sound systems all going to different places. Currently, there is not a way to make an announcement that will reach the entire grounds. A local expert was consulted and made a recommendation to solve the sound system problem. The best solution proposed would consolidate all current systems, add speakers to the banquet hall, and ensure an announcement could be made that would reach to the whole property. For example: if you were in the food stand eating a piece of delicious homemade pie and your friend was in the cattle barn, you would both hear the announcement that the magic show will start at 1pm. Remaining funding needed to complete this project is about $22,000. Please contact Ashley (515) 230-3396 for more information about this project.
Fairview Patio by the Banquet Hall
At the conclusion of the 2022 Lucas County Fair, demolition began on the old food stand and construction of the new Blue Ribbon Banquet Hall began. The arrangement of benches and picnic tables is no longer effective, because of the new building. Our stage is in good shape and we want to be able to continue to use this structure. Our plan now is to make some adjustments to the existing benches so that they face the stage and add a few more tables and benches to provide more seating for our outdoor entertainment area. We would also like to level the area to make it more user-friendly for everyone. As we expand our entertainment options throughout the week of the fair we envision this area to be bustling with people from sun up to after sundown. Please contact Ashley (515) 230-3396 for more information about this project.
